Concordia-Irvine’s upsets fuel rise to No. 3 in latest poll

Concordia-Irvine, after upsets of two nationally-ranked opponents, is the new No. 3 team in this week’s Off the Block/Frisco Mo Division II Coaches Poll.

The Eagles also had two players earning national position awards on Monday. Middle attack Noah Lassandro was named co-middle attacker of the week, while libero Addison Enriques was named libero of the week.

Two months into the season, and there is more consolidation on the coaches’ ballot. Every ballot had Lewis their top-ranked team, UC San Diego their No. 2 team, and Lincoln Memorial their No. 7 team. Additionally, six of the 13 ballots were ranked in the same exact order.

Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men’s volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men’s volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.

A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 15 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.

The Division II National Coaches Poll will be released on the Off the Block website every Tuesday during the regular season.
