How they got here: Barton won the ConfCarolians regular season title and then defeated King in five games in the ConfCarolinas Tournament finals. Princeton won the EIVA regular season championship and then defeated Penn State in the EIVA Tournament finals.

Stats to know: This will be the first NCAA Tournament meeting between two teams that have never won a NCAA Tournament match since the 1975 third-place match that featured Ohio State and Yale. It also will be the first time that a ConfCarolinas has played host to a NCAA Tournament match. Barton is attempting to become the first ConfCarolinas school to ever win a match in the NCAA Tournament since the conference started receiving an automatic berth in 2014. Princeton is trying to become the first EIVA school besides Penn State to win a NCAA Tournament match since 1985. In addition, Princeton has a chance to become the first team with 12 or more losses to win a NCAA Tournament match since UC Santa Barbara in 2011. The Tigers are 6-0 all-time against ConfCarolinas schools. Barton is 2-4 versus the EIVA in the last four seasons, including a home victory against Harvard in March.
