On the strength of winning their second consecutive IVA Tournament title, Lincoln Memorial jumps into a tie fourth place in the last Division II coaches poll released on Tuesday.
No. 1 Lewis received all 10 first place votes this week, the 11th consecutive week they have done so.
The Flyers are the No. 1 seed in the MIVA tournament, and swept No. 8 seed, Quincy, this past Saturday. Tomorrow, the Flyers welcome No. 2 McKendree to Neil Carey Arena for a MIVA Tournament semifinals match. The No. 4 seeded Bearcats advanced to the MIVA Tournament semifinals after defeating Ball State in #CincoSets in Lebanon, Illinois.
No. 2 Barton is the No. 1 seed in the ConfCarolinas Tournament, and swept the No. 8 seed, Erskine, this past Saturday. Tomorrow, the Bulldogs welcome the No. 5 seed, Limestone, to Wilson, North Carolina.
No. 4 Concordia-Irvine was swept by UCLA in a MPSF Tournament quarterfinal match this past Saturday.
No. 4 Lincoln Memorial swept both Daemen and Queens en route to repeating as IVA Tournament champions. Railsplitter opposite Evan Cory, who was previously named Off the Block Independent Teams Player of the Year, was named IVA Tournament MVP.
King received five votes, while Charleston received one vote.
Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men’s volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men’s volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.
A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 20 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.
