Division III National Matches of the Day

No. 1 Springfield (12-1) vs. No. 8 SUNY New Paltz (9-3)

What to know: After receiving all 24 first place votes in the previous two weeks of the national coaches poll, No. 1 did not repeat that feat. No. 3 Dominican received one vote to spoil that feat. The Pride has won their last dozen matches after losing their season opener to DI/II member Concordia-Irvine. Springfield is ranked fourth in the nation in attack efficiency (0.321.) Individually, the Pride are led by middle attacker Kyle Jasuta (0.342 aces/game, 0.921 blocks/game, 0.410 attack efficiency, and 2.00 kills/game).
SUNY-New Paltz is ranked second in the nation in kills/game at 12.9 kill/game. Individually, the Hawks are led by outside attackers Nick Smith (3.52 kills/game and a 0.381 attack efficiency). Springfield has won the last six matches between the two powerhouses after SUNY-New Paltz won all three matches in their 2016 national championship season.

What to know: Carthage, as a team, leads the nation in kills/game, assists/game, and digs/game. Reigning Division Player of the Week, Matt Slivinski leads the offensive attack for the Red Men with 3.59 kills/game while attacking at a 0.360 clip. North Central has challenged themselves in non-conference play – tonight’s match will be their 12th against a ranked opponent in their first 17 matches. Outside attacker Bozhidar Kolev leads the team in total kills (153) and aces (20). The two teams split their matches last season, with the home team winning both matches.
