Audio: North Greenville coach calls beating Barton biggest win in team history

The rest of the ConfCarolinas was just put on notice courtesy of North Greenville.

North Greenville rallied from a four-point deficit in the decisive fifth game to beat first-place Barton 18-25, 25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 15-12 on Saturday in Tigerville, South Carolina.

Outside attacker Jackson Gilbert finished with a team-high 20 kills on a .432 attack percentage in the victory. In addition, Gilbert had a block and a kill as part of a 5-1 run in the final game to help the Crusaders erase an early deficit.

Despite suffering its first conference loss, Barton out-hit North Greenville .324 to .217. The Bulldogs entered this match receiving votes in the Division I-II national coaches poll and ranked No. 2 in the Division II coaches poll.

  1. Hayes Gymnasium was electric this weekend in the victories over Mount Olive and Barton. Both visiting teams were affected by the outstanding play of the NGU men’s volleyball team AND the enthusiastic crowd! The Crusader Crew and all the fans are proud of the men’s volleyball coaching staff and team!
