What to know: Both teams are coming off losses last night to ranked foes. Lewis lost in #CincoSets to No. 10 UC Santa Barbara, despite getting 11 blocks each from TJ Murray and Tyler Mitchem. Lewis was the preseason pick to win the MIVA, but they are still looking for their first win against a ranked opponent. Middle attacker Tyler Mitchem leads the Flyers with 76 kills on the season, while attacking at .520 clip. His team-high 31 blocks is good for a 1.07 blocks per game average. On the other side of the net, CSUN is coming off a sweep to No. 5/5 Loyola, where Ksawery Tomsia had 13 kills and Dimitar Kalchev had 12 kills. The Matadors are 3-3 in matches against ranked opponents, with two of those at home, two on the road, and two at a neutral site. Senior outside attacker Dimitar Kalchev leads the Matadors with 108 kills and 19 aces on the season. On paper, Lewis ranks higher than CSUN in all statistical categories, but the one that sticks out the most is blocks per game. The Flyers are the best blocking team in the nation, while CSUN is the sixth worst.
