CSUN is back in the national media poll following two upset victories.
The Matadors went form receiving zero votes to being No. 10 in the newest Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll that was released on Tuesday.
CSUN swept its home two-match series against then-No. 3 Hawai’i last week to extend its winning streak to four matches and move into a tie for third place in the Big West. In addition, Arvis Greene had a combined 32 kills in the two sweeps of the Rainbow Warriors and was name the National Opposite of the Week.
Hawai’i following these losses to CSUN and then a loss to Pepperdine on Sunday dropped four spots to No. 7 in the national media poll.
Long Beach State remains the unanimous No. 1 in the rankings. BYU, UCLA, UC Irvine and Loyola also round-out the top five in the poll.
The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.
A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.
