Lincoln Memorial’s Cory repeats as Independent Teams Player of Week

Add another award to the list for Lincoln Memorial opposite Evan Cory.

Off the Block announced Monday that for the second consecutive week Cory was selected as the Off the Block Independent Teams Player of the Week.

Cory led Lincoln Memorial with a combined 64 kills in three matches last week, including a season-high 24 kills in a five-game victory against Emmanuel on Friday. He also had a match-high 19 kills on a .500 attack percentage as Lincoln Memorial beat North Greenville in five games on Tuesday.

Along with his offensive performance, Cory finished with a career-high nine blocks in the win versus Emmanuel. In addition, he had a combined nine aces in the three matches.

Cory leads all players this season as a three-time recipient of the Independent Teams Player of the Week.

The Independent Teams Player of the Week recognizes the best player during the week from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball teams that are competing without a conference affiliation. The four independent teams this season are Alderson Broaddus, Coker, Lincoln Memorial and Queens.

Off the Block determines the Independent Teams Player of the Week based on a variety of factors, including a player’s individual performance and how a player’s team fared during the week.

The winner of the Independent Teams Player of the Week is unveiled every Monday during the regular season on the Off the Block website, offtheblockblog.com.
