Quincy signs all-state recruit from Pennsylvania

Quincy first-year head coach Gavin Mueller has picked up his first commitment from a recruit.

Mueller informed Off the Block earlier this week that high school senior Ben Rachilla has committed to play for Quincy beginning in the 2019 season.

Rachilla, a 6-foot-5 recruit from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, helped lead his high school team to three conference championships and three district titles. He also finished the 2017 season earning all-state honors and was selected as his conference’s most valuable player.

This is the second time since 2011 that a player from Pennsylvania has committed to the Hawks.

Quincy finished last season in eighth place in the MIVA and reached the conference tournament quarterfinals. In addition, the school and former head coach Hadley Foster parted ways in the middle of the 2017 season.

Mueller in the offseason was named the program’s new head after spending last session as a graduate assistant coach with the Hawks. The former outside attacker also spent five years on the Quincy’s roster before graduating from the school in 2014.
