Stanford campaigns for awareness of men’s health issues
Stanford launched a month-long online crowd souring campaign with the Movember Foundation to raise money and awareness for men’s mental health. Stanford within the first six days of the November campaign raised $1,495 and has a goal of raising $2,000 by the end of the month. The Movemeber Foundation has provided funding for more than 1,200 men’s health projects during the last 13 years, including projects addressing prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.

Loyola coach to present at AVCA Convention
Loyola announced last week that coach Mark Hulse will teach a seminar at the upcoming AVCA Convention about identifying the most important skills for scoring points in men’s volleyball. The AVCA Convention will be Dec. 13-17 in Kansas City and coincide with the women’s volleyball NCAA Tournament semifinals and finals.

Hiram College to host preseason event
Ball State, Fort Wayne, Penn State and St. Francis will participate in a NCAA Division I men’s volleyball preseason showcase on Saturday at Hiram College. Both Penn State and Ball State finished last season ranked in the national coaches poll. Hiram College is located in Northeast Ohio, and former Penn State outside attacker Kyle Mars is the head coach of the school’s Division III men’s volleyball program. Mars also will conduct at Hiram a college prospect clinic for high school players on Saturday morning before the preseason matches.

McKendree assistant earns AVCA coaching honor
McKendree assistant coach Christian Staple was selected as one of the 10 recipients for the 2017 AVCA Diversity Award. The Diversity Awards program is part of the AVCA’s initiative to mentor and help the development of minority coaches throughout volleyball. Staples as a recipient will receive complimentary registration and lodging to the upcoming AVCA Convention and will attend a variety of coaching seminars at the event.
