MotorMVB will participate in a global day of giving as it moves closer to raising $1 million this year to help grow men’s volleyball.
The non-profit organization announced during the weekend that it will partake in the #GivingTuesday movement with a goal of raising $11,000 from new donors by the end of the year.
#GivingTuesday is annual event that occurs the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and begins the holiday giving season. The movement encourages individuals to improve their communities and to financially contribute to causes they support.
“I invite you to join with me and make boys’ and men’s volleyball a philanthropic priority for you and your family,” John Speraw, the chairman of MotorMVB, UCLA head coach and U.S. Men’s National Team head coach, said in a statement. “In order to seize the moment during this amazing time in the sport of volleyball, we seek your guidance, your contacts and your active support. Nothing is more important than providing opportunities for young people in this country.”
MotorMVB is a non-profit organization committed to growing boys’ and men’s volleyball throughout the United States. In addition, a goal for MotorMVB is to add more than 150 new college men’s volleyball programs by 2027.
MotorMVB has already awarded grants this year to several colleges that added men’s volleyball programs, including a new NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball program at Daemen College.
Along with presenting grants to schools, MotorMVB is the official sponsor of the Off the Block Grow the Game Challenge. The 2018 non-conference tournament will feature 10 NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball programs and take place Jan. 12-14 in Nashville.
MotroMVB so far has raised $936,000 this year to help grow men’s and boys’ volleyball.
The organization also announced if it reaches the #GivingTuesday goal of $11,000, it will receive an additional $11,000 donation in matching gifts that has been presented to the foundation’s board members.
