What to know: The United States will have one final chance to beat the defending Olympic gold medalists Brazil. The two teams will conclude their four-match exhibition series tonight after Brazil won the first three matches, including a sweep in the USA Volleyball Cup opener on Friday. Opposite Matt Anderson playing in his first match for the United States since the Olympics led the team with nine kills on a 53 percent offensive efficiency. The former Penn State All-American was one of two U.S. players with more than five kills in the USA Volleyball Cup opener. Outside attacker Aaron Russell contributed eight kills and had a team-high two blocks. This also was Russell’s first match back on the court with the United States after not playing in the 2017 FIVB World League. The United States in the loss had seven aces but committed 23 service errors — eight more errors than Brazil. Brazil finished with a better offensive efficiency than the United States at 57 percent to 51 percent. In addition, Brazil outside attackers Mauricio Silva and Renan Buiatti each had a match-high 13 kills against the United States. This will be the final match of the USA Volleyball Cup. The annual event is a series of exhibition matches between the United States and one of the top-ranked teams in the world. It also will be the final match for the United States before competing in the FIVB Champions Cup in September.
