A non-conference showdown between two perennial NCAA title contenders will be broadcast live on Off the Block through social media.

Off the Block announced Monday night that it will provide in-match video coverage via Facebook Live of No. 2 UCLA versus No. 13 Penn State on Friday at Ohio State.

UCLA finished last season earning the program’s first berth to the NCAA Tournament in almost a decade. In addition, Penn State was the 2016 EIVA regular season championship but missed the NCAA Tournament for the program’s first time since 1998.

The match between Penn State and UCLA will begin at 5 p.m. (EST) and is the first of four matches in the AVCA Showcase Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge at Ohio State.

The annual non-conference event features both Ohio State and Penn State playing matches against both UCLA and USC during the opening weekend of the regular season. The three other tournament matches will air on the Big Ten Network or the Ohio State athletics department website.

This not only will be the first time Off the Block has broadcast a college men’s volleyball, but the first time a match will air on Facebook Live in the history of college men’s volleyball.

Off the Block is a website that launched in 2011 and has emerged as the nation’s leader in college men’s volleyball coverage.

Along with providing live in-match coverage for Penn State versus UCLA, Off the Block will be at Ohio State to provide full prematch and postmatch coverage of all four matches.
