What to know: The only remaining obstacle for No. 1/1 BYU winning the MPSF regular season title and clinching home court advantage throughout the conference tournament is USC. BYU opens a two-match home series against USC in sole possession of first place in the MPSF and will be assured the regular season championship if it sweeps the weekend series. The Cougars return to Smith Fieldhouse after going undefeated during a four-match road trip, including sweeping a two-match series against No. 4/4 UCLA last weekend. In addition, BYU had a combined 28 blocks in the victories versus UCLA and leads the nation with a 3.31 blocks per game average. Middle attacker Michael Hatch has a nation-best 1.54 blocks per game average, while middle attacker Price Jarman is fourth in the nation averaging 1.31 blocks per game. Beyond the team’s defensive performance, All-American opposite Ben Patch has eight consecutive matches with double-digit kills. Patch is fourth in the nation and leads the MPSF with a 4.41 kills per game average. USC is in 11th place in the MPSF and already has been eliminated from postseason contention. The Trojans have lost three of their last four matches and are on the verge of winning five or less conference matches in a season for the first time since 2005.
No. 9/9 Hawai’i (14-11, 9-11 MPSF) vs. No. 15 Cal Baptist (14-14, 6-14 MPSF)

What to know: No. 15 Cal Baptist in two years since successfully transitioning from the NAIA is now on the verge of making the postseason for the first time as a NCAA program. The Lancers are a half-match out of the final MPSF Tournament berth and controls their own postseason fate entering the regular season finale two-match series against No. 9/9 Hawai’i. Cal Baptist can earn the postseason berth if it sweeps the road series vor splits the series and No. 15 UC Irvine loses to No. 5/5 Long Beach State on Saturday. The Lancers swept the Anteaters last week and have won their last two conference matches to remain in playoff contention. Middle attacker Enrique de Diego Garcia leads the Lancers and is in the conference’s top five with a .471 attack percentage. The sophomore is also in the top 10 of the MPSF with 92 blocks. Hawai’i enters its home series finale having already secured the No. 7 seed for the upcoming MPSF Tournament. In addition, senior outside attacker Sinisa Zarkovic is among the national leaders and third in the MPSF with a 4.01 kills per game average.
