The two teams that earned at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament last season will now meet in a critical early-season non-conference match.
No. 7 Hawai’i and No. 8 Lewis will play each other in the Outrigger Invitational with the non-conference tournament title on the line.

What to know: The Outrigger Invitational championship will be decided between two undefeated teams. No. 7 Hawai’i and No. 8 Lewis both enter the non-conference tournament finale after defeating Harvard and King. The Rainbow Warriors have not lost a game so far at their home tournament and had more than .300 attack percentage in the first two matches. In addition, Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-American outside attacker Sinisa Zarkovic had double-digit kills in both matches. This match will also feature two of the top freshmen so far this season. Hawai’i freshman opposite Stjin van Tiburg had a match-high 18 kills on a .400 attack percentage in the sweep against Harvard. Lewis freshman Julian Moses was named the National Freshman of the Week after having 21 kills in the team’s season-opening victory against No. 9 UC Santa Barbara last week. He also had a match-high 21 kills and two aces in a five-game victory against Harvard to open the Outrigger Invitational. Along with Moses, the Flyers have at least five aces in every match so far this season and more than a .350 attack percentage in two of their first three matches.
