Ohio State adds three highly touted high school players

A member of the U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team and two all-state high school players have committed to play at Ohio State.

Ohio State announced during the weekend that high school seniors Reese Devilbiss, Jake Hanes and Andrew Hillman each signed national letters of intent to join the Buckeyes beginning in 2017.

Devilbiss, a 6-foot-2 outside attacker from Mount Wolf, Pennsylvania, helped the United States advance to the FIVB U19 World Championship quarterfinals in August. He also earned all-state honors for the third consecutive year as he led his high school team to its third straight state title earlier this year.

Hanes, a 6-foot-10 opposite from Orland Park, Illinois, was named to the all-state team after leading his high school team to the state semifinals last season. In addition, Hanes earned All-Tournament Team honors following his team’s postseason run.

Hillman, a setter from Allentown, Pennsylvania, helped guide his high school team last season to its first state championship in program history. He also was an all-state selection and has served as a team captain for the last three years.

Ohio State finished last season in third place in the MIVA advanced to the conference tournament semifinals. The Buckeyes return a majority of starters for the upcoming season, including Freshmen All-American outside attacker Nicolas Szerszen and all-conference outside attacker Miles Johnson.
