Loyola jumps to No. 2 in newest RPI rankings

Loyola did enough with its two weekend victories to surpass UC Irvine in the RPI.

The Ramblers jumped ahead of the Anteaters to No. 2 in the newest RPI rankings released Monday after the team closed out its regular season on a four-match winning streak.

Lewis remained at No. 1 in the rankings for the third consecutive week. In addition, Hawai’i and Ohio State rounded-out the top-five of the RPI.

The RPI is determined by a mathematical formula that uses a team’s winning record, its opponents’ winning record and its opponents’ strength of schedule. This is also the first year that the RPI will be part of the criteria used to select the NCAA Tournament field.
