Conference tournament championship matches to follow tonight

The first ticket to the NCAA Tournament will be punched tonight.

Pfeifer and Erskine will play each other in the Conference Carolinas Tournament finals in a showdown between the top two seeds.

What to know: The top two offensive teams in the conference will now meet each other with a spot in the NCAA Tournament on the line as Pfeiffer plays host to Erskine in the Conference Carolinas Tournament finals. Pfeiffer leads the conference and is fifth in the nation with a .324 attack percentage. In addition, the Conference Carolinas regular season champions have more than a .300 attack percentage in 13 of its last 15 matches, including in both its regular season victories agaisnt Erskine. The Flying Fleet are attempting to become the first team to repeat as Conference Carolinas champions since Pfeiffer in 2012 and 2013. Outside attackers Michael Michelau and Robert Perez enter the championship match both in the conference’s top three averaging more than 4.00 kills per game. Michelau also had a career-high 32 kills in Erskine’s regular season finale against Limestone last week. However, the Falcons held Perez and Michelau to a negative attack percentage in their first meeting this season. Erskine advanced to the championship match after rallying from a one-game deficit to beat Mount Olive in five games in the semifinals. Pfeiffer reached the Conference Carolinas Tournament finals for the first time in two years after sweeping Limestone in the semifinals on Tuesday. All-conference middle attacker Fabio Diniz in the victory had a match-high 13 kills and four aces.
