AVCA releases 2013 high school boys’ volleyball All-American team

Coach John Speraw in his first year as the UCLA head coach didn’t waste any time landing one of the nation’s top recruiting classes.

UCLA led all college teams with four incoming freshmen recruits making the AVCA High School Senior All-American Team that was released Tuesday afternoon.

The Bruins, which finished the 2013 regular season in fourth place in the MPSF and reached the MPSF Tournament semifinals, had three high school senior recruits named First-Team All-Americans and a Second-Team All-American selection.

Ohio State was second among college teams with three incoming recruits making the All-American Teams, including two First-Team All-Americans.

Along with UCLA and Ohio State, 10 other NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball teams had at least one recruit making an All-American Team. In addition, the Division III school Mount St. Joesph and the NAIA school Concordia each had a recruit earn All-American honors

This is the seventh consecutive year for the boys’ volleyball AVCA High School Senior All-American teams. To be eligible for this All-American team a boys’ volleyball player must be a senior and his high school head coach must be an AVCA member.
