Lewis names its All-MIVA middles captains for 2012 season

The Flyers’ two all-conference middle attackers will be team captains this upcoming season.

Lewis announced Sunday via the team’s Facebook fan page that seniors Matt Gallik and Aaron Flick were selected as captains for the 2012 season.

Gallik has been named to the Second-Team All-MIVA for two consecutive seasons and finished fifth in the conference last year averaging 1.09 blocks per game. The middle attacker also had at least 10 kills in five matches last season, including a career-high 17 kills in a MIVA match against Loyola.

Flick, a 2011 Second-Team All-MIVA selection, ended last year second in the MIVA with a .407 attack percentage. In addition, as a junior he received Lewis’ Delahanty Award for academic excellence among student athletes.

Lewis finished the 2011 regular season in third place in the MIVA and lost in the MIVA Tournament semifinals for the fourth straight year.

Gallik and Flick are among the six returning starters for the Flyers after they ended last year No. 13 in the national rankings.
